We are looking for a dynamic, driven journalist with strong reporting skills to cover company news in Jakarta. The successful candidate will be someone who can build local sources and break news on everything from banking and financial regulation to M&A and private equity.
Indonesia is high on the radar of private equity firms, with KKR among the big names opening Southeast Asian offices recently. With a new president in place, we need a reporter who is strong on the ground to explain to readers what is and what isn’t changing in Southeast Asia’s largest economy. Foreign investors have limited access to information on this market, with little in the way of timely corporate disclosure. So insight from inside corporations is highly prized.
The chosen candidate will be a strong and accurate reporter with the ability to spot and explain trends to readers in a balanced, clear way and unbridled enthusiasm for chasing down a story.
- Experience in financial journalism preferred
- Ability to develop sources and to spot trends, particularly in M&A and financial regulation
- Solid news judgement and the ability to write accurately at speed
- Good written and spoken English
- Company news experience an advantage
- Fluency in Indonesian Bahasa a plus
